Accomodations and Modifications

Happy Happy Friday!! So, I’m preparing for two meetings starting next week. We are adding modifications and accommodations for both children. Parents as you get to know the new classes your children are in, make sure that the classes have the right accommodations and modifications needed for the child to be successful. So, you might be wondering what are modifications and accommodations???

Accommodations change the HOW material will be presented to your child and the way your child will communicate their knowledge of the material presented. Modifications change the WHAT materials will be presented to your child and what your child is required to do with the modified material.

So, example: My son is taking technology class, which he absolutely loves! However, I needed to add accommodations. So, instead of writing notes during here lecture time, the teacher post audio notes for him or record her lectures, use pictures for instructions. For modifications he will receive alternate assignments and/or projects when needed.
